The Future of Council Rock is in Our Hands
Key decisions ahead—join us in shaping the path forward.
Volume #8 - January 2025
A New Year, Together
During a trip to France over the holidays, I walked through streets lined with buildings from the 14th century and stood in awe of their timeless craftsmanship. Seeing how thoughtful planning and vision created structures that have served communities for centuries reminded me of the work we do here: ensuring that every choice we make is grounded in care, purpose, and the values we share as a community.
As we begin 2025, I am reminded of the weight of the decisions ahead. Together, we face important choices that will shape the future of our schools and community for generations to come.
The Road Ahead: Facilities Master Plan
We are at an important moment for Council Rock as we plan for the future of our schools. The recently completed Facilities Master Plan provides, for the first time, a detailed assessment of our district’s facilities.
This comprehensive overview includes data on building conditions, capacities, and anticipated needs alongside demographic studies projecting enrollment trends over the next decade.
The creation of this plan was a collaborative effort made possible by the hard work of the board, administration, and consultants. As co-chair of the Facilities Committee last year, I was proud to help lead the charge in initiating this critical assessment—a first for our district. It gives us the foundation we need to make informed, thoughtful decisions that will guide us forward.
The next steps are clear but not simple. Now, we must determine priorities, balance resources, and create a roadmap for the years ahead. Every decision we make will have lasting implications, and it’s essential that we approach this process with care, transparency, and a focus on what’s best for our students and community.
Discussions will take place during regular Facilities and Finance Committee Meetings, with decisions being made at monthly Board of School Directors meetings.
These forums are open to the public, and your input will be critical to shaping the path forward. I encourage you to attend, stay informed, and share your thoughts as we work together to build a stronger future for our schools.
Those who would like to dive deeper into the Facilities Master Plan can view the presentation from the recent meeting below or review the slide deck here. The Facilities Committee meeting on February 6 will start early at 5 PM and will kick off discussions that will shape the path to decision-making.
This is a pivotal moment for our district, and I remain committed to ensuring that every decision reflects the thoughtfulness and care our community deserves.
Together, we can create a future that serves our students and honors the values we share.
